Melissa's Journal

Entry Feb 17-18

yeah yeah, don't you know that this is this is going to be entry February 17-18. Welcome, welcome, all of ya'll. I have created a new, so come join it for new up to the minute information that I don't always have time to put in these journal entries.

while I was in class last night I used the some of the time as an opportunity to write my journal entry. Here is what I what I wrote lasr night (plus information I added today):

I am writing this entry in my Western Civ class. We are watching a film on the court of Urbino, so I am slightly ansy. This is an area south of Tuscany and north of Rome--on my trip to Europe, we are not going that far South. However, today is my last class in this course--next week is my final. I finished my paper, which you can see here. Next I have to write my King Arthur course paper, which is due Saturday. The reason the background is "I Love Lucy" is in honor of my sister Lindy. Lucy is one of her favorite people, and she sent me a Valentine's card with a Lucy theme. She is obsessed with Lucy like I am obsessed about Madeline. Speaking of Madeline, she is coming of my index page for awhile, however, she will eventually go back on when I redesign it again. Tonight I watched my tapes of the new episodes ER, Friends and NYPD Blues. On ER, they killed off Lucy, however, here is a funny page which accuses her of being an alien. I thought all three shows did an excellent job. Friends did a what-if episode where all the characters lived different lives (Monica was great as a fat version of herself, and the love relationship that develops between her and Chandler was so sweet.) Actually, I think I like this alternative Friends universe a lot better. NYPD gave its usual great writing and acting in this episode. And the dramatic and traumatic follow-up to last week in this episode of ER was stunning and very sad.

academic tidbits:

  • Oct. 31, 1517 is the most famous date in Protestantism. It is the day Martin Luther complained about plenary indulgences.
  • Germany was once in the 1400s divided into 400 provinces
  • I learned an interesting term in my Don Quixote class: liminal spaces. It means the space in between other spaces, like a doorway or window.

Okay, have a nice Friday,

Melissa
